Why English football is not a real sport

One thing I can't stand about football is the pathetic diving and otherwise ludicrous overreactions in search of penalties. Not much of that goes on in rugby league.

I often wonder whether soccer players ever get embarrassed with their sport. It’s hard to understand the “simulation” mentality of association football when you are raised on Australian Rules (or indeed, both rugby codes), where the ‘ethic’ is one of (often silly) pride in one’s masculinity and general manliness around injuries.

Yeah of course I'm being slightly facetious about it as there isn't too much to admire about some poor chap being knocked into a different postcode, but at the same time I gave up on football partly because I couldn't stand all that faking injuries to get penalties. In rugby you'd be found out, and sorted out. So too league and, I imagine, Aussie Rules.
