Cherie Blair and embarrassment

In the Times today one Maggie Bowley asks:

If Cherie Blair was embarrassed by a lady’s maid at Balmoral seeing her contraceptive equipment, why does she now, with the help of The Times, publish the details to the nation?

Presumably the answer is that the one revelation did not attract publicity and hence sell books and generate income, but the other might.

A comment under the letter remarks that this is a manifestation of "Total Loss of Shame Syndrome"; in fairness to Mrs Blair, it is not a total loss, just a loss where money might be on offer.

Shame is not something either Blair has in great supply.

Well true, save that they made a great play about privacy of their children when in Downing St; what on earth the children think of the utter drivel currently being serialised I have no idea ...
